Joy Equals Success
In the illusion of separation we have developed the idea that we are in competition with each other, and that our success is measured by how well we achieve as compared with one another. In order to determine how we fit in with the world, we contrast things like our own wealth, level of education, status, rank, assets, age, beauty etc. against other people in our experience.
Following this mindset, we feel proud and happy when we perceive ourselves as winning or having gotten the upper hand against another person or group of people; while the perception that we have lost, are losing, or that we are "less than" anyone causes emotional discomfort and even pain. In business transactions, many of us feel gratified if we believe we have received the better end of a bargain - even if that means taking unfair advantage of another person.
Because we have lost sight of our true power, many of us seek to manipulate people or situations as necessary to avoid losing at all costs. But the more we strive to win, the more we create discord between our vibratory offering and the source of all blessings and abundance.
Specifically, while we may create the perception that we are winners because we have gained a material advantage, in this way we also deepen the mental conditioning that our value is dependent on our ability to be more, do more or get more than other people. This validates our egocentric feeling of separation from everything else, which causes mental tension and fear around the possibility of losing.
Because we expend most of our mental energy on our endeavors to “get ahead”, our vibratory offering serves to disconnect us from the part of Self that is the source of total WellBeing. As we continue from the feeling of separation and fear, we tend to rely mostly upon our basic human will to compete as our life's radar - which makes our sense of well being dependent on whether we win or lose.
When our feelings are dependent on how things turn out, we create conflict and dis-ease in our bodies and in the world. The more we do to gain control over people and circumstances, the more illness we create for ourselves through our attachment to outcomes, and for the world by the way we project ourselves into it.
Even if we accumulate massive wealth or achieve the highest esteem amongst our colleagues, we cannot be fulfilled until we have attained Joy that is not dependent on circumstance or accomplishment.
As we seek the emotions of proud/happy/worthy through circumstance, we are only receptive to whatever keeps us alternating between these emotions and their opposites. But when we seek the Self that is pure Joy, we begin to evolve to a level of awareness that allows our lives to flow more easily, peacefully and Joyfully.
Only our true Self knows what in the world will lead us to the peace of mind that comes from experiencing the Joy within ourselves. Everything we do with our bodies and minds is only for the material exercise through which we can find this treasure, and feeling attached to any of it can only detract from the Joyful experience we were born to create.
By shifting our focus from competition to compassion throughout our daily lives - even in business and interpersonal dealings, we gradually begin to open up to the possibilities that transcend the reasonable mind. As we expand our receptivity, we can finally experience the Joy of Being - just as we are.
While our perception of peoples' behavior and circumstance may shake that Joy temporarily, every experience leads to a deeper understanding of Self and to an expanded awareness of the Joy that is our essence.
We are neither winners nor losers, but each of us is the pure energy that creates our experience in this time-space reality. To the extent that we create Joy, we are experiencing truth - and that equals success.
Past has no Power
During our lifetimes, we have many opportunities to learn from the circumstances we experience. Wisdom is the integration of past lessons with awareness, but there is no value in contemplating whether anything ever went wrong.
Specifically, thinking about anything we have labeled as "wrong" or "bad" evokes emotions that project certain energetic patterns; and whatever we project is attracted toward us. This means that as we focus on what we have created in the past, we are re-creating similar vibratory patterns in the present.
Those patterns extend forward to attract that the circumstances and events that harmonize with them vibrationally.
If we mostly use the present moment to review the past, we bind ourselves to repeat what has already been created. But in any moment, we can decide that the past was perfect - and start focusing on what we are creating now.
By shifting mental focus to what feels Joyful in the present moment, our creativity is being directed toward what we would consider an improvement to our present situation or circumstance.
We are only bound to the past to the extent that we keep re-creating it in the present, but the power of creativity is within each individual to do with as they please - irrespective of anything that has already been created.
Working Mother
Working two jobs (when you'd rather do something else) to put kids through college is not only acting from ego on mother's part, but it teaches her kids to struggle through, instead of create their lives.
Specifically, the mother is denying her higher Self for many years expecting to control a future outcome for her kids in the belief that her kids are not likely to succeed unless she sacrifices herself. At best, this brand of self importance sets the stage for pride - but more often disappoint and resentment become the mother's predominant vibratory offering. During the time she spends denying her soul, the mother‘s energetic offering is paving the way for more struggle and hardship not only for herself – but for everyone else.
Moreover, it teaches her kids that in order for one to have success, another must suffer; and it gives them a sense that they are superior with a degree and inferior without one. These egocentric beliefs are the underlying cause of much struggle, depression, and emotional challenge in our society today. Confining powerful creators to these self limiting beliefs is the reason so many people are dependent on psychiatric and other drugs these days.
In reality, our power is our creativity. Teach kids to rely on their powerful Self, and to follow the pure Light within them instead the mind conceived methods of success that can only succeed in disconnecting us more from ourselves and from each other.
Our greatest gift is our energy, and the only time is NOW. Let your spirit prevail and bless everything through your very presence.
Centering
It's wise to seek centering because when we're centered, the call of our soul can be heard more clearly.
Our minds are so strong already that they tend to run our lives out of habits picked up through many life experiences. The work to be done is in controlling the mind to follow the spirit, and opening our hearts to be receptive to the unconditional Love that is our essence. I recommend a daily practice of Kundalini Yoga to get used to summoning your Being into your daily life.
The true you is the only thing that endures. Family and loved ones can be a source of happiness and emotional love (which always contain their opposites), but only you have the power to create the pure Joy that comes from being the expression of your true Self in this lifetime.
You are the center of the Universe, and everything that you experience is your creation. Create your life Joyful by learning to follow the subtle voice of your soul toward that which glorifies yourself as part of everything else.
Darkness in Balance
Darkness only exists where light is not present. Light illuminates everything that it touches, and eliminates darkness by its very presence - without fight or struggle.
With respect to hidden emotions, darkness is anything that has not been observed by individual awareness. But since emotions are what inspire expansion and guide us toward it, just having life experiences creates more dark shadows to be illuminated by our presence.
In the perspective of Yin Yang (balance), when we are not present in our lives, the shadows of darkness proliferate and create imbalance. But there is no danger of too much Light because new shadows are constantly being created as a necessary component of the ever-expansive nature of the Universe.
Enjoy the darkness. It gives meaning to the Light.
Emotional Freedom
Emotions alter the human expression of our true essence. The human being is created and sustained in pure Love, and expressed in the world through the filter of mind, memories and emotion.
When certain past experiences are attached to uncomfortable or painful emotions, the nature of our ego is to protect us by attempting to hide those memories from our consciousness while avoiding similar experiences. When the ego believes any present experience to be associated with an offending memory, it systematically triggers our feeling of the attached emotion to alert us of possible impending danger.
Over the course of many years, we accumulate so many of these hidden memories with attached emotions that our predominant expression tends to come from emotion and not our true nature. In this way, the subconscious mind dominates as the creator of our thoughts, words, actions and the course of our lives.
Although expression through an emotion is “normal” everyday living for the majority of people, this is not a necessary thing. Each of us has the power to heal these emotions and live freely from our true essence.
Through the practice of being present and aware of our thoughts and emotions, we can determine when we are being controlled by an unwanted emotion and resolve it. Specifically, when we feel that something is not “right”, pain, discomfort or tension in the mind or body, it is evidence that we are in the grip of emotion.
With calm awareness and deep breath, attention can be directed to the thoughts that were entertained just before the feeling was noticed. Calm awareness means releasing thoughts that take us on an emotional journey while consciously witnessing what is being brought up by the mind.
With the mind’s eye, look with acceptance on the thoughts being presented and any memories which present themselves as the source of those thoughts. Stay focused on the breath as the thoughts, emotions and memories are exposed, and remind yourself that you are not bound by any of these – but you are free in each moment to be new, completely innocent and open to any of the unlimited possibilities.
When exposed to the light of our consciousness in this way, hidden emotions are gradually and gracefully released. While the previously offending memories can still be recalled, their emotional charge will eventually be dissolved through this practice.
There is no “right” or “wrong” to this, and judgment of our abilities in this regard only hinders transformation. The key is to remind yourself to remember to accept every part of you and keep returning to the practice of awareness.
You are the real You and not the accumulation of your memories. Through the practice of awareness, your real Self can be expressed as the creator of your reality and the healer of your emotions, your life, entire nations, and ultimately the world.
Desireless Effort
The idea that we have to “work hard” to attain nice things, fine food or future security is a conditioned belief that keeps us from experiencing the subtle richness that gives true meaning to life. The work we do now can never guarantee anything for the future, and if we’re not enjoying life Now, we’re wasting the only time that ever really exists.
Burying ourselves in work or a career gives credence to the ego self which seeks to create stability by controlling the future through our efforts. However, our desires in the material world have NO purpose except to serve the desires of our Being - which seeks expansion of conscious experience.
The purpose of worldly desires is not to compel human effort chasing and achieving them, but to provide creative inspiration to our higher consciousness. While material desires can lead to fulfillment of our higher purpose, we have only to honor those desires without attachment or resistance to them.
Efforts that are NOT attached to the achievement of any physical or material desires are a reward of themselves because they serve the One that endures forever. In this way, our material desires are effortlessly manifested to the extent that they serve our Beingness, and our awareness in the present is not wasted through our attempts to achieve for a future that never exists.
The ego has a strong will and the ability to drive our physical efforts in the direction of any desires we choose. But in order to move in the direction of our true desires, the ego self must be trained to serve the conscious One.
This training is not easy, but it’s magnificent, and our efforts in this regard continue to pay dividends in this lifetime and beyond.
Here’s the process:
- Practice being aware of all thoughts running through the mind
- Notice which thoughts attach you to any desire in the material world
- Appreciate your desires (it means you are alive!), but honor your higher Self by releasing the intent to control any manifestation of them
- Stay present and alert to your emotional state to determine which efforts in the Now moment honor the true You. If your efforts feel rewarding in and of themselves, you are moving in the intended direction. However, if your efforts feel agitated, stressful or worthless without some future reward, you are acting from ignorance.
- There is no need to immediately stop what you are doing or make sudden changes. Just become conscious of what you are doing and what purpose you are serving. Change will come as an obvious next step through this practice.
- Through awareness, recognize and release all thoughts of fear, worry, stress or anything that leads to an uncomfortable feeling because wallowing in these thoughts strengthens the ego’s need for control and can never serve the real You. Any time you notice a feeling of discomfort or pain, practice Long Deep Breathing for as long as it takes to feel calm.
- As you continue releasing self limiting thoughts and the ego’s tendency to control the future, you will be more open to new information and you will come to notice more clues in your environment that lead you in the direction of higher achievement.
- Remember to remember that You are eternal, and not the self image that you have created for this life experience.
Yoga with meditation is an essential tool for this process because it trains the mind to be in the present moment and both body and mind to follow your higher purpose. It also works on all systems to ensure that you are receptive to the guidance always being given by your higher Self.
I also recommend including raw food with plenty of raw fat in your diet to facilitate the elimination of toxic substances that may impede your efforts.
Ego Purpose
The ego's purpose is to provide our unique field of awareness with a sense of individuality and separation in order to make a life experience possible. The ego is programmed to protect our individual self from suffering, and thus it buries anything that is potentially painful to look upon. While we are identified with the ego self, our shadows or skeletons are harmful to the physical and emotional body, and are best kept out of our awareness. Eventually though, they tend to become so powerful that the ego is no longer able to contain what has been hidden, and our phantoms manifest as extreme emotion or physical dis-ease.
However, when we observe what has been hidden from the perspective of our conscious Being (not ego identification), any suffering is only superficial and temporal as that which has been exposed is gracefully released. In this way, we create more energy, clarity, and an enhanced life experience.
The most difficult moments come from self judgment or fear of the unknown. Remember you have done nothing wrong and the Universe is always focused on guidance toward your highest benefit.
As we continue on the path of awakening to the true Self, we are able to understand more of what is being revealed, and thus we notice spontaneous insight occurring more often. While there are still peaks and valleys with respect to the difficulty of our challenges, they progressively get easier as the benefits become even more rewarding.
